The most historically black owned businesses were located on Black Wall Street. For those who don't know, Black Wall Street was located in Tulsa, Oklahoma and contained a total of 600 businesses, 21 churches, 21 restaurants, 30 grocery stores, 2 movie theaters, 6 private airplanes, a hospital, a bank, a post office, schools, libraries, law offices and a bus system . As written by Ebony Magazine, "Its destruction began the way much terrorism, violence and dispossession against African Americans did during that era. A young White woman accused a young Black man of attempted sexual assault, which gave local mobs and White men acting as police just cause to invade the unsuspecting community:"
During the night and day of the riot, deputized whites killed more than 300 African Americans. They looted and burned to the ground 40 square blocks of 1,265 African American homes, including hospitals, schools, and churches, and destroyed 150 businesses. White deputies and members of the National Guard arrested and detained 6,000 black Tulsans who were released only upon being vouched for by a white employer or other white citizen. Nine thousand African Americans were left homeless and lived in tents well into the winter of 1921. - Linda Christenson

Recall
As it was then and still remains today, we (black people) are resented. We were and are being deprived of true knowledge. Someone stated on twitter, "Amerikkka can't afford for Black people to learn their history [because] they might start realizing they aren't as free as they think." The mis-education of the black man and woman, in particular, is not an accident. When our ancestors were brought to America, the western people who brought them here realized they could never be enslaved with the knowledge they possessed. You cannot enslave a people or a nation that has knowledge. When we obtain any type of knowledge we have to make sure we don't just sit on it. We have an obligation not only to ourselves but to our communities to cultivate that knowledge for the good of our people. We have to help ourselves. You don't see the Chinese people begging for jobs, they build their own town instead- China town. You don't see Koreans begging for jobs, they create them- beauty supply stores, nail shops, Korea town, etc. You don't see white people begging for jobs, they're the ones running them! They take the education they receive and their experiences and bring it back to their communities. As a people, we (black people) are the main ones that go around looking and begging for handouts. We MUST do for self!
Each and every one of us has a "God given talent." That means God gave us our duties from birth and He expects us to fulfill them. Duty is a necessary variable when it comes to love. Without duty love is a fantasy and that is exactly where we are mentally, in a fantasy world. There isn't any or very little progress in the black community because love is not present. We don't have true love for ourselves therefore we have a lack of love for our own people. You may be thinking, "oh nuh uh, I love myself and my people!" Do you really? What have you done for yourself today? How have you improved your mental and physical condition? Do you still torture yourself by going to that 9 to 5 you hate so much? What have you established or plan to establish for your people?
I will end the article with this, knowledge is power and just like we exercise and eat healthy, we have to watch what we feed on mentally and exercise and strengthen our minds.
"He who sets the diameter of your knowledge determines the circumference of your activity."
