During Sis. Masaniai's interview she was asked to give her views on this weeks most popular topic, "Modesty vs. Immodesty...Who's coming home to meet the parents?"
"Unfortunately, society has been so dumbed down to the point where positive and good natured adjectives such as "modest" and "decent" are viewed as corny or just plain and simply lame. We all want to be judges over everyone else around us but ourselves, and beat each other down if we are not in accordance with a standard that none of us has set, so we look for what's "popular". It's not "popular" to be modest or decent. It's not popular to actually want to bring home a man to introduce to your father. In fact, it's the total opposite. It's popular to be ignorant. It's popular to be vulgar and blunt, it's "funny", and we can't forget about how "hard" and "tough" it makes you look. So we go for what's "in", when in truth, none of us truly want a man or a woman that is disrespectful, raunchy, and vulgar.
In every woman's heart, she wants an Idris Elba, but that type of man is not "popular" these days, so she continues to pursue the Lil Waynes, and once again has created yet another relationship that is bound to fail, and the process continues. As women, we must start within self first, and ask ourselves do we want a future with class and quality, or just another yesterday with a trend. I want to feel a sense of pride when I think of my other half, and that can only be accomplished by choosing the best, and only then can I choose the best when I realize what is the best."
Thank you Sis. Masaniai for taking the time to share your words and knowledge with us and allowing me to feature you on my blog! I pray Allah (God) continues to bless you in your endeavors!
