During Sis. Masaniai's interview she was asked to give her views on this weeks most popular topic, "Modesty vs. Immodesty...Who's coming home to meet the parents?"

"Unfortunately, society has been so dumbed down to the point where positive and good natured adjectives such as "modest" and "decent" are viewed as corny or just plain and simply lame. We all want to be judges over everyone else around us but ourselves, and beat each other down if we are not in accordance with a standard that none of us has set, so we look for what's "popular". It's not "popular" to be modest or decent. It's not popular to actually want to bring home a man to introduce to your father. In fact, it's the total opposite. It's popular to be ignorant. It's popular to be vulgar and blunt, it's "funny", and we can't forget about how "hard" and "tough" it makes you look. So we go for what's "in", when in truth, none of us truly want a man or a woman that is disrespectful, raunchy, and vulgar.

In every woman's heart, she wants an Idris Elba, but that type of man is not "popular" these days, so she continues to pursue the Lil Waynes, and once again has created yet another relationship that is bound to fail, and the process continues. As women, we must start within self first, and ask ourselves do we want a future with class and quality, or just another yesterday with a trend. I want to feel a sense of pride when I think of my other half, and that can only be accomplished by choosing the best, and only then can I choose the best when I realize what is the best."

Thank you Sis. Masaniai for taking the time to share your words and knowledge with us and allowing me to feature you on my blog! I pray Allah (God) continues to bless you in your endeavors!

Sydney Allen speaks on Modesty vs. Immodesty...

                                                    Sydney Allen, 21

Sydney Allen currently attends University of Texas (Austin) and is a 4th year Elementary Education major. When she graduates she will then go on to shape the minds of young children. It is important for them to have the proper education that will allow them to excel not only in school but in their every day lives. There are so few good teachers in this world that truly cares about the well being of their students. Sydney Allen will be that one in a million teacher that will help our children be successful.

During Sydney Allen's interview I asked her to shed a little light on the topic this week, "Modesty vs. Immodesty...Who's coming home to meet the parents?"

"I think one of the most important things to state first is that not only is modesty shown through attire but through attitude and personality. I think every woman can appreciate a man who not only dresses to the T but also carries himself in a very humble way. Although the importance of a woman dressing modestly is discussed more, as women I think we need to make our preferences known. I personally consider a man who dresses well very intriguing, simply because it’s somewhat foreign these days. Dressing well can encompass many different styles. Personally, I love cardigans, for myself and for men. Why? It’s just something about man sweaters that yells classy. Something as simple as what we wear can show outwardly what we think of ourselves. Although we like to say we don’t judge people on what they look like, we can’t deny the fact that we weigh heavily on what we see first. Basketball shorts vs slacks, muscle shirt vs button down. It’s all a matter of balance. If the man expects the woman to carry herself modestly then so should he. Birds of a feather flock together or in my case birds with cardigans."

Thank you Sis. Sydney for your words and allowing me to feature you on my blog! I pray Allah (God) continues to bless you in your endeavors!
